Svu lunacy12/27/2022 REBECCA HOPKINS (Cowriter) has been actively involved in new play development at FST since her arrival in 1998. Fallon Award for Artistic Excellence from the Florida Professional Theatres Association, and the 2012 Cultural Champion Award from the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County. Hopkins is the recipient of numerous awards including the Arts Leadership Award from the Sarasota Arts Council, the Richard G. He created the New Play Development Program, The Cabaret Series, FST’s award winning Write-a-Play-Program, and he has directed the design and renovation of all FST’s Theatres. Hopkins has guided the theatre from a small touring company to a nationally recognized regional theatre which impacts over 190,000 adults and children annually. This includes overseeing the creation and implementation of all FST programming, including Mainstage, Cabaret, Stage III, New Play Development, Education, and Touring. Hopkins also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Florida Studio Theatre. Hopkins led the development of FST’s Cabaret productions of The Prima Donnettes, Too Darn Hot and By Gershwin. His many directing Mainstage credits include: Inspired Lunacy, The Best of Enemies, Next to Normal, Race, Ruined, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Boleros for the Disenchanted, Permanent Collection, and Metamorphoses among numerous other plays. Hopkins has fostered the development of FST’s Mainstage and Cabaret productions. RICHARD HOPKINS (Director & Cowriter) is the Artistic Director of Florida Studio Theatre. BFA in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University. TV appearances include The Today Show with Kathy Lee and Hoda, Comedy Central, The Young and the Restless and the CBS Comedy Showcase. The role of Eddie in Mamma Mia! Mame starring Christine Baranski and Harriet Harris at the Kennedy Center, First National Broadway Revival tour of 42nd St. Her latest show, Somewhere Over the Rose, was last seen at FST.ĭENNIS KENNEY Favorite credits include the Broadway National touring production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas where he covered and performed the role of the Grinch. Sang the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden and Fenway Park, Brassy Broads of Broadway premiered in NYC and presented nationwide, Sophie Tucker: Last of the Red Hot Mamas has been critically acclaimed and chosen for the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and The Arts Festival. Other credits: the first female Singmaster of the Big Apple Circus. Regional: title roles in Mame, Hello Dolly, Evita, Annie Get Your Gun, Gypsy, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Oliver, Annie, Little Shop of Horrors, Steel Magnolias. National Tour: Gypsy, 42nd St., Oliver, Grand Hotel, Fiddler on the Roof. FST: Sophie Tucker: Last of the Red Hot Mamas, Dirty Blonde, The Wonder Years, 3 Postcards, Inspired Lunacy, numerous cabarets. KATHY HALENDA is always delighted to come back to FST. Since FST, he founded Actors Theatre of Indiana ( the resident professional theatre company at the Center for the Performing Arts ( located in Carmel, Indiana where he serves as Artistic Director. DON FARRELL returns to FST after a considerable hiatus having last directed, choreographed and played the role of “Sparky” in FST’s production of Forever Plaid (2000) and as a cast member of Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits (1999) and the original production of Inspired Lunacy (1998). He is a proud graduate of CCM and member of SAG/AFTRA and AEA. Dane has also done worked for Disney, Publix, and Bealls. TV/FILM: Deadly Affairs, The Following, and Why.
